INTRODUCTION
This Privacy Policy explains what personal data is collected when you use the CoinCheck mobile application (the “Application”, “Service”, or “Coin Identifier App”), how such personal data is used, shared, and how you can control it. This Privacy Policy also explains how we process photos and related technical metadata submitted through the Application, how we use third-party service providers and AI services, and how users may request deletion of their data.
If you do not agree with this Privacy Policy, you should discontinue use of the Application and remove it from your device.
By using the Service, you represent that:
1. You have read, understand and agree to this Privacy Policy.
2. You are at least 16 years of age (or you are a parent or legal guardian providing consent for a minor).
For purposes of this Privacy Policy, “GDPR” means Regulation (EU) 2016/679 (General Data Protection Regulation).

1. TYPES OF PERSONAL DATA WE COLLECT
1.1 Data You Provide Directly
You may provide limited information when contacting us directly (for example, via email). We do not require users to create an account to use the core functionality of the Application.
1.2 Data Collected Automatically
Usage Data
We collect information about how you use the Application, including:
- features accessed
- scans performed
- session duration
- interactions within the app
Device and Technical Data
We and our service providers may collect technical information from your device, including:
- device model
- operating system version
- language settings
- time zone
- hardware identifiers

- mobile carrier
Advertising and Attribution Data
If you grant permission through Apple’s App Tracking Transparency framework, we and our attribution / advertising partners may collect or receive advertising-related identifiers and related attribution data, including:
- Identifier for Advertisers (IDFA);
- attribution and campaign measurement data;
- app install and re-engagement data.
If you do not grant such permission, tracking-based data collection will be limited as required by Apple’s policies and applicable law.
Analytical Data
We use third-party analytics tools to measure usage trends and performance.
Photos Submitted Through the Application
When you use the coin identification features, you may submit photos of coins through the Application. These photos are transmitted to our AWS servers and may be stored by us or by our infrastructure service providers for the following purposes:
- providing coin recognition results;
- improving, testing, validating, and training our machine learning models;
- debugging, quality assurance, fraud prevention, and service improvement.
Along with submitted photos, we may store related technical metadata, such as:
- pseudonymous user or app instance identifier;
- device model;
- operating system version;
- app version;
- camera or capture mode;
- subscription status (for example, free or paid);
- technical processing parameters.
We do not use submitted photos for advertising or marketing purposes. We do not intentionally collect unrelated personal photos, but users should avoid submitting images that contain people, faces, identity documents, or other personal content not necessary for coin recognition.
We do not:
- access your device gallery;
- collect unrelated personal photos;
- use submitted photos for marketing purposes.
Technical metadata (device model, OS version, app version, camera mode, pseudonymous identifier) may be stored and is not linked to directly identifiable personal information.
Payment Data
Subscription payments are processed by Apple. We do not store payment card details.
Special Categories of Data
We do not intentionally collect or process special categories of personal data (such as health data, biometric data, political opinions, religious beliefs, or similar sensitive information).
AI Features and User Prompts
If you use AI-powered features in the Application, including asking questions about a coin, your prompts, the coin-related context you provide, and generated responses may be processed by our AI service providers in order to generate answers and improve service reliability and safety.
Users should not include sensitive personal data or unnecessary personal information in prompts submitted to AI features.

2. PURPOSES AND LEGAL BASIS FOR PROCESSING
We process personal data to:
- provide coin recognition and related app functionality;
- store and process submitted coin photos and technical metadata;
- improve, evaluate, test, and train recognition and machine learning systems;
- generate AI-based answers and informational content;
- manage subscriptions, purchases, and entitlements;
- provide customer support;
- monitor performance, stability, errors, abuse, and fraud;
- conduct analytics, attribution, and product research;
- measure advertising performance and optimize campaigns, where permitted;
- comply with legal, tax, accounting, and regulatory obligations.

- Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR – consent, where required, including tracking / advertising permissions and permissions for accessing device capabilities;
- Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR – legitimate interests, including analytics, fraud prevention, service security, product improvement, and machine learning improvement;

3. SHARING OF PERSONAL DATA
We may share personal data with the following categories of service providers and partners, strictly as necessary for the purposes described in this Privacy Policy:
- Amazon Web Services (AWS) and our backend / hosting providers – for server infrastructure, storage, processing, and delivery of recognition functionality;
- Google Firebase – for infrastructure-related services such as storage, analytics, crash reporting, diagnostics, remote configuration, or similar app support functions, depending on the features enabled in the Application;
- RevenueCat – for subscription management, purchase validation, entitlements, and subscription analytics;
- Amplitude – for product analytics, usage measurement, and service improvement;
- Branch – for attribution, linking, campaign measurement, and related analytics;
- OpenAI and other AI service providers, if used – for processing prompts and generating AI-based answers or content;
- Apple – for in-app purchases, subscription processing, and platform-related services;
- advertising, attribution, and measurement partners, such as Meta, Google Ads, and Apple Search Ads, where permitted.
These service providers process data on our behalf or as independent service providers depending on their role. Where required, we take contractual and organizational measures intended to ensure an appropriate level of protection for personal data.

11. DATA RETENTION
We retain personal data for as long as reasonably necessary for the purposes described in this Privacy Policy, including providing the Service, improving recognition accuracy and machine learning systems, maintaining security, preventing fraud, complying with legal obligations, and resolving disputes.
In particular:
- submitted coin photos and related technical metadata may be retained for recognition operations, testing, model improvement, quality review, and training cycles, unless deletion is requested or retention is no longer necessary;
- analytics, diagnostics, and technical logs may be retained for as long as needed for product improvement, security, troubleshooting, and business operations;
- purchase and transaction-related records may be retained for accounting, tax, legal, and audit purposes for the period required by applicable law;
- support communications may be retained as long as reasonably necessary to handle the request and maintain support history.
Where feasible, we may delete, aggregate, or de-identify data so that it can no longer reasonably be linked to a particular user.

12. DELETION REQUESTS

To help us identify relevant records, we may ask for additional information reasonably necessary to locate the data, such as the approximate date of submission, device model, screenshots, transaction details, support email used, or other app-related identifiers.
Please note that in some cases we may retain certain data where required by law, for security and fraud prevention, or where the data has already been irreversibly anonymized or incorporated into aggregated model improvement processes in a form that no longer reasonably identifies an individual user.

The Application does not currently respond to browser-based “Do Not Track” signals. Privacy choices available through the Application, device settings, and platform permissions may still apply.
